How do I know what table size is best for me?

We apply the following rule of thumb for our rectangular dining tables: you need 60cm for every dining chair you want to place on one side. Our standard 200x90cm tables are suitable for 3 dining chairs on each side.

For round tables, we recommend our 120cm tables for 4 chairs, 140cm tables for 6 chairs 160cm tables for 8 chairs.

Table frames

We only offer the frames as shown on our website.

Almost all of our frames are made of black powder coated steel. For dining tables it is 3 cm thick and for coffee tables 1.5 cm.

For some tables there are multiple colors of frames available. These are automatically shown within these specific products. It is not possible to order our frames in a different color than indicated.

Do I have warranty on my products?

Yes you do! We offer a 2-year warranty on all other products. The warranty applies to ‘product’ defects such as sudden cracks (without a known cause) but does not cover self-inflicted stains.

Marble characteristics & maintenance

How do I protect my marble table?

Your table has a polished finish that gives it natural protection. However, we strongly advise using a sealer on the table to protect it against stains and superficial scratches. When using the sealer for the first time, we recommend applying several layers. Read more about Marble and the protection on the About Marble page.

Is it normal for there to be minor imperfections on my table?

Marble is a natural product which makes it imperfect by its very nature. You’ll find imperfections such as small bumps, cracks or other minor blemishes in marble, which are known as “Taroli”. Despite the polished finish, these imperfections occur on practically every tabletop. “Taroli” are perfectly normal and are even registered as official characteristic of Carrara marble.

Will marble stain easily?

Marble is a porous natural stone. Acids or other fluids can leave matte stains or rings on your marble tabletop. This will mainly happen when you leave fluids on the table for an extended period of time. If you spill drinks or other fluid on your table, we recommend wiping it off with a moist cloth without any soap or cleaning agents, as they often contain acids themselves. We also recommend sealing your table with an impregnation agent every 6 months. For more information on how to apply the sealer, please look at the question: How can I protect my marble table?

Cleaning advice

When cleaning marble, avoid using aggressive acidic agents such as Glassex, Dreft and damp cleaning wipes. Rather, use green soap or a natural stone cleaner. Also make sure that no water remains by using a slightly damp cloth and wiping the table with a dry cloth immediately afterwards.

For advice on stain removal, please refer to our customer service. We work together with a recognized company specializing in the treatment of stains on natural stone and will refer you to it if desired.

Outdoor tables: finishing & maintenance

New in our collection: the designer outdoor tables made of marble or granite.

Our design outdoor tables are specially designed to be suitable for outdoor use. The bases of the outdoor tables are made of stainless black steel, in the familiar design of Aime Té.

The garden tables do not need to be impregnated before use. To clean the garden tables, preferably use a soft brush or cloth with plenty of water and green soap. This makes your natural stone garden table in a jiffy clean again. Please note that you should not clean your garden furniture piece with hard objects such as a scouring sponge or brush, this will cause scratches. As the tables are longer outside, weather influences can become visible.

Wood characteristics & maintenance

What wood quality does Aime Té use?

Our oak dining tables are made from high quality, durable European oak wood. In oak there are different types of quality, where we always use ‘1a and rustic 2/3’ quality which is the highest possible. The oak tables are finished with different color finishes where they are first stained, then primed and then finished with two components. Because of these factors, each oak dining table is free of sapwood and knots, does not require impregnation and is easy to maintain.

Our walnut dining tables are made from high quality, durable American walnut wood. In walnut wood there are different types of quality, where we always use ‘Super Prime’ quality which is the highest possible. The walnut tables are finished with a transparent color finish where they are first stained, then primed and then finished with two components. Because of these factors, each walnut dining table is free of sapwood and knots, does not require impregnation and is easy to maintain.

What about wood and humidity, light and heat?

Humidity

Wood is a natural product that can shrink and expand. This is the result of varying moisture content. We call this the working of the wood. The drier the air, the greater the chance that the wood will shrink and crack. The more humid the air, the greater the chance that the wood will expand. This is a natural effect of the wood and cannot be remedied. However, you can minimize the wood’s movement by ensuring good humidity. As long as the relative humidity remains between 50-60%, the shrinking, cracking and expansion of the wood will be limited and the wood will be able to function normally. You can measure the air humidity with a humidity meter, also called a hygrometer

If the humidity is too low you can add water (vapor) to the air. This can be done by hanging water trays on the radiators so the water vapor spreads throughout the house. In winter, to maintain the right humidity level with the central heating on, about 4 to 6 liters of water must be evaporated. The most effective thing to do when the humidity in the house is not good is to install a humidifier. For already in the winter months the humidity is at its lowest.

Light

Wood will always discolor over time, the extent to which is different for each type of wood. The daylight in which the furniture is placed will determine the final color.

Heat

Never place wooden furniture too close to a heat source (e.g. radiators), this can cause cracks and warping. Also never place hot objects (pans, mugs, etc.) directly on the wood, this can cause white circles that are impossible to remove. Also do not place damp glasses directly on the wood, the moisture can cause black irremovable rings. Always use coasters.

Read more about wood on the About Wood page.

How do I maintain my wooden table?

Our wooden furniture is protected with a two-component lacquer. Wood with a lacquer finish can normally be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth as long as it is then wiped with a dry cloth. When the wood is finished with a matt lacquer, grease stains can be very noticeable. These stains can be removed by using a little soap. If these grease stains are stubborn, they can also be removed with benzene. Never use maintenance products with an abrasive effect. We also strongly advise against using wax-based products.

Note: a lacquer layer is sensitive to scratches. We therefore recommend that you be extra careful with the furniture. The damage is irreparable. For advice on stains we refer you to our customer service.

How do I keep my wooden table beautiful?

Always use coasters and placemats when using a wooden table. This will prevent moisture or circles from soaking into the table. The moisture can cause black circles that are impossible to remove.

Never place wooden furniture too close to a heat source (e.g. radiators), this can cause cracks and warping. Never place hot objects (pans, mugs, etc.) directly on the wood, as these can cause white irremovable rings.
